1. ὑπὲρ τῆς ἀληθείας, from regard for (in the interest of) truth.

2. ἀκριβολογοῦμαι καὶ διεξέρχο- μαι: see note on § 4.6.

3. τὰ μάλιστ̓, even most clearly, with δοκοίη: cf. § 95.6.

4. οὐδέν...πρὸς ἐμέ, it is no con- cern of mine: cf. §§ 44.8, 60.3. This may be an emphatic present apodosis, referring to the present condition implied in εἰ...δοκοίη, if it should appear that there is (εἶναι) any fault; or it may be an emphatic future expression, as in Pind. Isth. IV. (V.) 14, πάντ᾽ ἔχεις, εἴ σε τούτων μοῖῤ ἐφίκοιτο καλῶν, you have the whole, should a share of these glories fall to you.

5. Ἀριστόδημος: a tragic actor of good repute, one of the company in which Aeschines once served (XIX. 246). For his informal mission to Philip in 348—347 B.C. see Hist. § 13.

6. ἐκδεξάμενος, his successor (he who took the business from him).— γράψας: i.e. moved the peace, which was named from this motion of Philocrates.

9. οὐδ᾽ ἂν σὺ διαρραγῇς, not even if you split: cf. the common imprecation διαρραγείης (Ar. Av. 2). See note on § 17.6.

10. ὅτου δήποτε ἕνεκα, for what- ever reason (it may have been): δήποτε, like οὖν, makes ὅστις indefinite. This is as strong language as Demosthenes wishes to use of Eubulus, after his death. See Hist. § 14.

11. οὐδαμοῦ: cf. § 15.7, and ἔστιν ὅπου, § 22.7. Demosth. is fully justified in this strong denial.
