1. σοὶ ἀρετῆς...τίς μετουσία;=τί σοι ἀρετῆς μέτεστιν; 2. κάθαρμα, properly filth, off- scourings. 3. πόθεν...ἀξιωθέντι; see § 51.4. 4. ἧς belongs to τετυχηκότων, ἀπολειφθεῖσι, and προσποιουμένοις: it has a partitive force with προσποιουμένοις (7), as in Ar. Eccl. 871, προσποιῇ τῶν χρημάτων. 6. κἂν...ἐρυθριάσειε: M.T. 224. 7. τοῖς ἀπολειφθεῖσι, those who have missed it (cf. § 257.6). 8. ἀναισθησίας: see ἀναίσθητοι, § 43.2, and note on § 35.10. 10. περίεστιν, it remains for them: cf. περιεῖναι χρήματα, of a balance of money due, § 227.3. See II. 29, περίεστι ἡμῖν ἐρίζειν.
