ἀπόνῳ, as they themselves had just prayed for him. Cp. the prayer of Ajax to Hermes Chthonios that he may die “ἀσφάδαστοςAi. 833).

τοῦτ᾽ἤδη means, “"here we come to the point which is indeed (καὶ) worthy of wonder"”: cp. Plat. Symp. 204Bδῆλον δὴ...τοῦτό γε ἤδη καὶ παιδί, ὅτι”, etc.
