ξὺν οἷς, “σὺν τοῖς θεοῖς” (schol.), “"with whose help,"” since the gods strengthen men to refrain from evil, as well as to do good. μὴ κάλυπτε, as with a veil (“κάλυμμα”) of dishonour cast over her bright fame: cp. Il. 17.591 “τὸν δ᾽ ἅχεος νεφέλη ἐκάλυψε μέλαινα”. Thuc. 7.69 “ἀξιῶν...τὰς πατρικὰς ἀρετάς, ὦν ἐπιφανεῖς ἦσαν οἱ πρόγονοι, μὴ ἀφανίζειν”. Plut. Cor. 31 “ἠμαυρωμένος τῇ δόξῃ.” τὰς εὐδαίμονας: Her. 8.111 “λέγοντες ὡς κατὰ λόγον ἦσαν ἄρα αἱ Ἀθῆναι μεγάλαι τε καὶ εὐδαίμονες”.
