ὡς . . νενικημένον—this is what they found on returning from the pursuit of the enemy's left. The inference is clearly that τὸ πλἑον also retreated to Olpae; cf. ἐς φυγὴν . . καταστῆσαι above. With a colon instead of the usual comma after Ὄλπας, the difficulty that has been found in making αὐτῶν presently refer—as it must do—to the whole army, disappears.

αὐτῶν—‘of the armv.’ It cannot mean ‘of the right wing’ only, since the Mantineans were posted almost on the left wing.

προσπίπτοντες—‘while rushing to the fortress of Olpae.’
