ἐν τῇ Ἱερᾷ—still called Vulcano The coins of Lipara show Hephaestus seated, with a hammer. The group of islands, seven in all, is still called Liparian or Aeolian. The full name seems to have been Ἱερὰ Ἡφαίστου—Vulcani nomine sacra it is called in the Aetna. Στρογγύλη now Stromboli, is there described as cui nomen facies dedit ipsa Rotunda. ὡς—very unusual constr. with νομίζω.
