οἱ ἐν τοῖς π.οἱ τὰ τῆς πόλεως πράττοντες.

ἀποκωλύειν—the MSS. give fut., but the infin. after δύναμαι and its equivalents is prolate.

Ἀθηναίοις μέν—the conditions are stated in the loose form frequently found in treaties, etc.: (1) two points in favour of the A. are connected; (2) some supply ἐξεῖναι to άποστέλλειν, but it is better to make the latter depend directly on ὥστε; (3) δῆσαι, ete. also depend on ὥστε.

ἐν ὅσῳ=μέχρι οὗ, cf. e. 52, 3. It is a similar constr. to that in Tityre, dum redeo. Classen saw a combination of (1) ἐν ὅσῳ ἂν ἀπῶσι and (2) ἕως ἂν πάλιν ἔλθωσι.
