[45] Ἤθελεν: (with neg.) “had no mind” (=had not the power). “ἐθέλειν” implies a desire to do what is, or seems to be, in one's power to do, and so is often practically equivalent to “δύνασθαι”. Cf. Il. 9.353, Φ” 366.
