εἰ δέ γε κτλ. The words from γε μή to φανῆ[ναι] have been found on one of the Oxyrhynchus Papyri, without any difference from the text of A except οὕτω for οὕτως and ἐνγεγονότα for ἐγγεγονότα (Grenfell and Hunt, Vol. I p. 52). τῶν καλῶν πολιτειῶν . Ξ has κακῶν for καλῶν, oblivious of the irony.
