This text is part of:
ὁμομητρίου. Miltiades and Cimon were sons of the same mother by different fathers (cf. v. 25. 1). Since, however, the Cimonidae were afterwards recognized as Philaidae, there was probably relationship by descent or adoption on the father's side also. The genealogy as given by H. is: ὡς νόμος οἰκιστῇ. On hero-worship cf. v. 47 n., 114.
ὑπόθερμοτέρου: perhaps ‘passionate beneath the surface’, as ὑπόπετρος, ὑποψαμμότερος (ii. 12. 3), and perhaps ὑπομαργότερος (iii. 29. 1, 145. 1; vi. 75. 1).
