ἅπαν, “"anything,"” cp. on 761: καλὸν with λέγειν, dictu honestum, cp. on 37. Remark that in neither place does Dem. place a “καὶ” before “ῥητά”, or a “τε” after it. The form which he gives was doubtless the familiar one. On the other hand, in a phrase of different meaning, Dem. or. 1 § 4 “τὸ γὰρ εἶναι πάντων ἐκεῖνον ἕνα ὄντα κύριον καὶ ῥητῶν καὶ ἀπορρήτων”, “"of what is to be published or to be kept secret."” O. T. 300 “διδακτά τε ι ἄρρητά τ᾽” (n.). Verg. Aen. 1. 543 “deos memores fandi atque nefandi”: Hor. Epp. 1. 7. 72 “dicenda tacenda locutus.”
