τὴν αὐτὸς αὑτοῦ: cp. 1356, Ai. 1132 “τούς γ᾽ αὐτὸς αὑτοῦ πολεμίους”: Aesch. PV 921 “ἐπ᾽ αὐτὸς αὑτῷ”: ib. 762 “πρὸς αὐτὸς αὑτοῦ κενοφρόνων βουλευμάτων”. In this hyperbaton “αὐτός” merely adds emphasis to the reflexive. If “αὐτός” is meant to stand out with its full separate force, it precedes the prep., as “αὐτὸς πρὸς αὑτοῦ” twice in Soph. (Ant. 1177, Ai. 906).

ὁ πληθύων χρόνος, the growing number of thy years; cp. on 377 and 7.

τοῦ νοῦ, which is just what old age ought to bring:

“καίπερ γέρων ὤν: ἀλλὰ τῷ γήρᾳ φιλεῖ
χὡ νοῦς ὁμαρτεῖν καὶ τὸ βουλεύειν ἃ δεῖ

”
