ἀγαθοὺς πολίτας: not to be taken as pred. of ἄνδρας, but the three words together form the pred. of an obj. to be supplied (αὐτούς, “those who come to you”). Expansions with ἀνήρ seldom have an adj. added. Cf. Thuc. i. 74 ἄνδρα στρατηγὸν ξυνετώτατον (most sagacious), Ar. Eq. 1304 ἄνδρα μοχθηρὸν (worthless) πολίτην, Aeschin. III. 197 ἀνδρὶ συνηγόρῳ δικαίῳ καὶ σώφρονι.

2 f.

γάρ, γάρ: the former introduces the reason for the expression of the doubt εἴ περ κέκτησαι, the latter for the existence of the doubt.
