τῆς Ἑλληνικῆς: the Aegean; cf. vii. 28. 2, and τῆς Ἰώνων (ch. 50. 1). τρισί: cf. Xen. Hell. iii. 2. 11 “Ἔφεσον ἣ ἀπέχει ἀπὸ Σάρδεων τριῶν ἡμερῶν ὁδόν”. The addition of small details to make an unnecessary correction is characteristic of Herodotus.
