Da Liv. die Ereignisse des vorigen Jahres Kap. 1—7 sehr kurz zusammenfafst und dabei die Flotte unerwähnt läfst, so ist es möglich, dafs dieser Livius Nachfolger des L. Apustius (Legat des Sulpicius bis in den Herbst des J. 199; s. 31.27.1. 44, 1. 47, 2) gewesen sei und unter dem Konsul die Flotte befchligt habe, aber, ehe er etwas thun konnte, von L. Quinctius abgelöst worden sei. Wenn § 5 eine von Apustius getroffene Einrichtung als noch bestehend erwähnt wird, so ist dies vermutlich so zu erklären, dafs Livius nicht nach Athen gekommen war.
