αὐτὸς ὅρος: cf. 470 b. The question is, whether the range of each idea is the same. A clear distinction (σαφῶς διόρισον) would obviate any false application.

τὸ κρεῖττον κτἑ.: the position of the three terms is arbitrary; but Socrates seems to put first the two on which he lays most stress.

ὥσπερ . . . ἔλεγες: this appeal to the statement of Callicles reveals a contradiction between his statements, inasmuch as he had said above, 483 b, that the πολλοί were the ἀσθενεῖς.
