μή (sc. φάθι): to be understood like οὔ φημι (nego).

μανθάνω: ironic; as if Socrates could by any means judge what Callicles did mean from a general statement of what he did not mean.

ὑφαντικώτατον: a sup. coined for the occasion.

περιιέναι: sc. in order to show off in them; still stronger is the following (31) περιπατεῖν (“strut about”).

ποίων ἱματίων: expresses indignant contempt. Cf. Charm. 174 b ἆρά γε (οἶδε) τὸ πεττευτικόν; ποῖον πεττευτικόν;
