16 f.

τὰ ἐχόμενα: used absolutely would not indeed be unexampled (cf. Isoc. vi. 29 ἐκ τῶν ἐχομένων γνώσεσθε), but in connection with τούτοις ἐφεξῆς is pleonastic. Otherwise Plato's usage is either τὰ τούτων ἐχόμενα (Rep. iii. 389 e) or τὰ τούτοις ἐφεξῆς (Tim. 30 c, Phileb. 34 d).

κεφάλαιον: without the article is rather uncommon (cf. 453 a, 472 c), but does occasionally occur. Cf. Dem. ii. 31.

οὗτος: points emphatically back to τῶν κιναίδων βίος, which has already received especial stress through the preceding word κεφάλαιον.

εἰς τοιαῦτα ἄγων: is the same reproach which was made above, 482 e.

ἀνέδην: without limitation, from the same root as ἀνίημι.—

οὕτω: see on 468 c ἁπλῶς οὕτως.
