[335] γένος is an acc., cp. 14. 199., 16. 62. The line is taken from Il.14. 113πατρὸς δ᾽ ἐξ ἀγαθοῦ καὶ ἐγὼ γένος εὔχομαι εἶναι”. The superfluous word υἱός was doubtless added to fill up the verse, after the necessary omission of “καὶ ἐγώ” (Sittl, Die Wiederholungen in der Odyssee, p. 41).
