Li-thot′o-me — cache.
(Surgical.) An instrument used in lithotomy. It is introduced with blades concealed in a sheath, from which they are protruded, by pressing upon a lever, on reaching the place of operation. The incision is made by withdrawing the instrument. It is made single or double bladed. Called also a bistouri-cache. This instrument is specifically recommended by Sabatier, 1797, in an article read before the National Institute of France, October 6, 1797.
