U′ter-ine Di-lat′or.

An instrument for dilating the cervix uteri, when contracted. The instrument is made like a forceps, with blades about two inches in length, and answers in the place of graduated metallic bougies in distending the internal os.

Uterine dilators.

Ellinger's (b) has two pivoted braces connecting and strengthening the blades, and a graduated arc attached to one hand for indicating the amount of dilation.
