Staff-bead.

A species of angle-staff. A beaded strip of wood placed at a vertical exterior angle in an apartment, and serving to protect the plastering, and as a guide in floating. It is made flush with the surface of the plaster, and is secured by nails to bond plugging or wooden bricks fixed in the walls.
