Sour′ing.

A part of the process of bleaching in which the goods, having been previously placed in a solution of chloride of lime, are exposed to a dilute solution of sulphuric acid, which sets free the chlorine and whitens the cloth. It also neutralizes the alkalies, which have been used in previous treatment of the cloth.
