1. (Surgical.) These are of various kinds, as indicated by their names. Most of them are considered under the following heads :—

Hernia-supporter.Testes-supporter.

2. (Shipbuilding.) A knee-piece of timber bolted firmly beneath the cathead, to reinforce it when sustaining the weight of the anchor.
