Plug-ma-chine′.

A machine for making wooden plugs for faucet-holes of beer and wine barrels. The stuff is clamped in a frame moved up by the sliding ratchet which acts upon a pawl. A similar pawland-ratchet holds the “feed” gained. A hollow, reciprocating revolving cutter shapes the plugs. An automatically descending saw severs them. At the rear of the cutter are two saws for tenoning the plugs. A lever raises the pawls on the clutch-frame to allow of its retraction.
