Service-pipe.

One for conducting gas or water from the main into a building.

Service-pipe for buildings.

Fig. 4836 shows one arrangement. The pipe conveying water from the main is surrounded by a casing forming a chamber around the pipe. This casing extends to the inside of the building, and has an aperture for the admission of steam for thawing the pipes. A wooden casing covers the pipes and their connections on the inside of the building, and has doors opposite the union and elbow joints.
