Time-fuse.

A fuse which can be so arranged as to explode a charge at a certain determinate interval after the time of its ignition. This is usually effected either by cutting out or off a portion of the fuse or by employing compositions of which given lengths burn at different rates.

Fig 6455 shows a “Borman” fuse, which at the discharging point is in contact with a chamber containing quick powder, and communicating with the interior charge of the shell. See also fuse, Fig. 2132, and pages 928, 929.
