Shut′tle-wind′er.
A device for winding a shuttle, such as the round shuttle of the Wheeler and [2172] Wilson sewing-machine, or a tatting-shuttle, as in the example. The shuttle is attached to a clasp and rotated above the spool; the spring which serves to carry and revolve the shuttle also forces its jaws open to receive the thread.
