Ta′ble steam-en′gine.

A form of engine in which the cylinder is fixed upon a table-like base. [2479] The piston-rod has a cross-head working in straight, slotted guides on the top of the cylinder, and is connected, by rods at each side, with two parallel cranks on the shaft under the table.
