Set′ting-pole.
(Nautical.) a. A pole by which a boat or raft is pushed along, one end resting on the bottom, and the other usually applied to the shoulder, while the man walks the length of the deck. b. A pole driven into the bottom, and used for mooring a boat in fishing, etc.
