Thermo-met′ric steam-gage.

A steam-gage which indicates the amount of pressure in a boiler by the amount of expansion of a fluid at the temperature due to the pressure.

In the example, the reservoir B, containing mercury, is inclosed in a steam-chamber l connected directly with the steam-space of the boiler. The mercury rises in the glass tube E, which has a scale directly indicating the pressure in pounds. The reservoir B is coated with copper or other suitable material, to prevent steam from penetrating its walls and condensing inside.
