Skew-gear′ing.

Cog-wheels with teeth placed obliquely, so as to slide into each other and avoid clashing. They serve to transmit motion from one shaft to another when the two form an angle, but would not intersect if prolonged. A, Fig. 5128, skew-bevel wheel.
