Low-wa′ter In′di-ca-tor.
An attachment to a boiler to show the depth of water in the boiler. It may, as in the example, be an arrangement of float and needle mounted upon opposite ends of a single bent rod which passes through a stuffing-box. As the float rises and falls with the fluctuations of the hight of water in the boiler, the pointer in box B indicates the waterlevel upon a graduated arc. The ordinary water-level indicator is a vertical glass tube at the end of the boiler, and is known as a water-gage. See also low-water alarm.Low-water indicator. |
