[122] παυροτέροισι: cf. “Τρῶες δ̓ αὖθ̓ ἑτέρωθεν ἀνὰ πτόλιν ὡπλίζοντο παυρότεροι, μέμασαν δὲ καὶ ὣς ὑσμῖνι μάχεσθαι” | “χρειοῖ ἀναγκαίῃ” (of stern necessity), “πρό τε παίδων καὶ πρὸ γυναικῶν Θ” 55 ff., “οἱ δὲ μάχονται” (sc. “Τρῶες”) | “παυρότεροι πλεόνεσσι Ν” 738 f., 15.407.—“τέλος κτλ”.: no end has yet appeared; a fuller expression for “ἄπρηκτον”, instead of “without attaining our end,” “without gaining decisive victory.”
