[688] κεῖτο: sign of inactivity, in sharp contrast with “ποδάρκης”. cf. vs. 721, 724, 771; “ἀλλ̓ ἄνα, μηδ̓ ἔτι κεῖσο Σ” 178 addressed to Achilles by the goddess Iris.

ἐν νήεσσι: i.e. in the camp; see on 1.12.
