[788] ἀγορὰς ἀγόρευον: were holding an assembly, cf. “πόλεμον πολεμίξειν Γ 435, βουλὰς βουλεύειν Κ 147. — ἐπὶ Πριάμοιο θύρῃσιν”: at the gates of Priam; i.e. before the palace, where acc. to oriental custom the king sat in judgment. cf. (“ἀγορὴ γένετο”) “παρὰ Πριάμοιο θύρῃσιν Η” 346, ‘Judges and officers shalt thou make thee in all thy gates’ Deut. xvi. 18.
