ποδήνεμος: Iris is “ἀελλόπος Θ” 409 storm-footed; cf. 10.437 quoted on v. 764. — “ὠκέα [ὠκεῖα]”: for the inflection, see § 20 c.

Ἶρις: the gods' messenger in the Iliad for all that pertains to war, while Hermes bears the messages of peaceful life. See also 3.121.
