Pil′lar-com′pass.

A pair of dividers, the legs of which are so arranged that the lower part may be taken out, forming, respectively, a bow-pen and bow-pencil, or, by in- [1704] verting them in their sheaths in the upper part of the leg, a compass with a pen or pencil point is formed.
