(Architecture.) Busts or figures of the upper portion of the human body, terminating in a downwardly tapering block; employed as pillars, balusters, or detached ornaments for niches. Non-detached ornaments for support may be found under Atlantes; Caryatides; Persians; Tela-Mones; etc.
