Cra′dling.
1. (Coopering.) Cutting a cask in two lengthwise, in order to allow it to pass through a doorway or hatchway, the parts being afterwards united and rehooped.
2. (Carpentry.) The framework in arched or coved ceilings to which the laths are nailed.
