Plat′form-bridge.
(
Railway-cars.) A gangway over the space between the platforms of adjacent cars in a train.
It is a measure of safety, to prevent persons falling down between cars when in motion.
In
Fig. 3815 it is a gang-plank with arrangements to allow it to slip back and forth, but not slip off.

In
Fig. 3816, the floor and sides of the bridge which unite the platforms of adjacent cars are made on the expanding lattice or lazy-tongs principle; they are contractible, to be taken on board, or are swung in on pivots when the cars are detached.
