Steam.) A device for plugging boiler, condenser, or other tubes in case of leakage or for other reasons.

That shown consists of an expansible ring a, two frusto-conical disks b c, a bolt e, and nut f. The device is inserted into the end of the tube, and the square-ended foot of the bolt is turned by using a wrench, causing the two disks to approach each other and expand the ring a, so as to fill the bore of the tube.
