Till′er-wheel.

More properly termed steering-wheel, as it does not always act upon the rudder through the intervention of a tiller, which is a bar or lever projecting from the rudder-head or rudder-post. See steering-wheel.

Tiller.

Sometimes called a “pilot” wheel, as that functionary has it in charge in the ordinary steamboating on our rivers.
