Vehicle.) A stem fastened to the carriage bow for the attachment of the stretcherpiece, known as the prop-joint, and upon which the bows rest when down.

In the example, the inner plate has a square, tubular, projecting socket, which receives the screw-shank of the prop. An outer collar fits on the square socket, and on a square portion of the prop, so that the latter cannot rotate.
