Pi-tot's′ tube.
A current-meter. It is a tube open at both ends and bent at right angles. The longer leg is graduated and held vertically while the [1721] lower end is plunged in the water, the mouth pointing up stream. The rising of the water in the tube, above the level of the outside, is the measure of the force, that is, speed of the current. See current-meter.Pit-saw. |
