Plate-hoist.

A clamp or clutch by which a plate is lifted into position for attachment to the angle-irons forming the ribs or frames; or for getting the plates aboard for other parts of the work. It consists of a strong stirrup b and ring c, the latter being attached to the hook of the tackle. The plate a is clamped against one leg of the stirrup by the point of the set-screw d, which passes through the other leg.
