Plate-wheel.

A wheel without arms. One in which the rim and hub are connected by a plate or web. Many car-wheels are made in this way. The wheels of watches are made so, and the plate is afterward filed away in portions so as to leave spokes in the form of a cross. This is called crossing-out. A special file is used for the purpose.
