Post-hole Bor′er.

An implement for boring holes for fence-posts. In the example, the square shaft of the auger is turned by a bevel-wheel through which it slides, and has a rack into which the spurwheel is meshed when the earth is to be raised. The wheel is rotated by a hand-crank.
