Stoke-hole.
1. (Furnace.) a. The place beneath the level of a boiler or oven where the furnace fire is fed and tended. b. The hole in a furnace at which the poker, stirrer, rabble, paddle, or other tool is introduced to stir the charge, as in puddling, calcining, or refining.
2. (Nautical.) A scuttle in a steamer's deck for the admission of fuel.
