[*] 228. Roots¹ are of two kinds:—

Verbal, expressing ideas of action or condition (sensible phenomena).
Pronominal, expressing ideas of position and direction.

From verbal roots come all parts of speech except pronouns and certain particles derived from pronominal roots.
